Making Posing Guides for Personal Use

Making Posing Guides by Pierce Brunson

This segment is about posing guides.  It is really simple to do and I think you need to have these with you when you go and shoot to create a more organized shoot.  You can still get creative by using the posing guides as it helps you have a starting point at your location.  I basically Googled posing guides and found some free downloads that were simple drawings.  I then took those drawings and put them into a chart in a word file.  The images are about 1.2 inches tall and it creates 18 boxes to fit the images in.  After that I printed them out at home and took them to Office Depot to be laminated.  The lamination was the 10mill.  Don’t go thinner than that.  The cost for two laminations and two double sided photo copies was $5.33.  Now they are protected, and you can punch a hole in them for a ring or a clip.  Make sure you put your name and contact number at the bottom of the page.

I decided to use posing guide images with no color so my subject could focus on the pose and not the person in the image.

In 2014 I will use posing guides on every shoot with the intent of having a more dynamic range of images, reduce laziness, deliver a better product, improve my portfolio and make more money.  Enjoy!
